Akil Gipson was born and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It was there where he fell in love with all things sport. He’s played almost every sport you can imagine, but mainly focused on basketball and track in high school. Akil competed in track and field at Division 2 Western State Colorado University where he was an All-American in the triple jump. From there he coached collegiately for 8 years at his Alma Mater Western State, University of Central Missouri, and Academy of Art University. This is where he was able to develop and mentor hundreds of athletes including: three National Champions, 17 All-Americans, and win two team National Championships.

Presently, he resides in Gilbert, Arizona. He holds the NAMS-CPT certification and has been training athletes, no matter the skill level, reach their goals. Akil believes we are all athletes and we all should be able to play whatever we want the rest of our lives.

Personal Trainer – I was born in Kaneohe, Hawaii in 1975. At the age of 17 I started training under coach Bob Bristow, at the Kaneohe Boxing Club. At the age of 18 I started competing in the Honolulu amateur boxing league. At the age of 19 I gained interest in kickboxing and started training under Bob Smith. Bob Smith was a 7th degree black belt in Taekwondo and owner of Bob Smith Taekwondo. Bob Smith was a welterweight kickboxer and ranked 7th in the world. He was also the training partner of Kickboxing Heavyweight World Champion, Dennis Alexio.At the age of 24 I joined the HMC Fight team. HMC head coach was Haru Shiminishi, aka “Trainer of Champions.” Haru trained over 10 world champions in Boxing, Muay Thai, Kickboxing and MMA. I trained and started my professional career in MMA under Sensei Haru.Due to multiple injuries suffered over the years of training in combat sports, I was forced to take a early retirement from fighting at the age of 26. At this time I continued to help other fighters train and started coaching.I been coaching since 2003 and also started training in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Lopez Martial Arts. I remember years ago as a busy mom of 3 young children how difficult it was to be able to schedule myself in and to have MY health and fitness a priority. I felt like I never had the time for myself to do so.
Because of that I decided to get my certifications. I have been certified for almost 8 years now.

Before I received my certifications I also competed in Bikini Bodybuilding Competition Shows. While doing so, it showed me that I would need complete dedication to my goal and my goal only! I needed to find that perfect trainer to get there. I felt so much accountability and support from the trainer I chose. I loved the empowerment I felt throughout my prep. I felt like I could achieve any goal of mine that would better myself for my future. I made it up on stage more than a hand full of times. Each time better than the last. It was always me vs. me!!

Although he didn’t get to play any college football he was blessed to play Pro arena football in multiple states where he was able to play against NFL & college athletes.
